F4 Mary Gettys Murray, born 1877, died 1948; Named for great-great grandmother Mary Gettys or grand-aunt Mary Gettys Diven; married Frank Alfred Manship (1877-1915) in 1910. She was born and raised in Landisburg, Perry, Pennsylvania where she trained as a teacher and taught in one-room schoolhouse in various townships nearby. She moved to Philadelphia sometime between 1900 and 1910 and met and married Frank Alfred Manship (1877-1915) in 1912 in Wilmington, Delaware. Frank was the son of Alfred Henry Manship (1837-1904) and Eliza J. Lindle (1847-1898) of Milton, Delaware.

Frank suffered from tuberculosis, and so he and Mary soon moved out of Philadelphia to Denver, Colorado where their daughter, Nancy Lindle Manship, was born in 1912. The couple also had an infant son who died young: F. Murray Manship, the name inscribed on the grave stone at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milton DE. When Frank died in 1915 (of tuberculosis in Albuquerque, NM), Mary moved back to Philadelphia and buried her husband in Milton DE, at Odd Fellows Cemetery. After 1930, Mary remarried Harry Bower, a widower who lived at 4940 Royal Street in Germantown, Philadelphia, PA.

By the time Nancy was a toddler, Frank Manship had succumbed to tuberculosis in Albuquerque, NM. After the death of their husband and father, Mary and young Nancy Lindle lived with Mary's brother George and 3 sisters, all unmarried, at 603 Wynnewood Rd. in Overbrook, Philadelphia. They were members of the Calvary Presbyterian Church and appeared in the Overbrook section of Philadelphia in the 1920 and 1930 federal censuses. Nancy was graduated from Cassidy Elementary School, Overbook High School and Wilson College, in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
