In 1853, he moved his family to Muscatine County, Iowa, where he farmed until his death, Married (1) 2 Apr 1815 Maria Adams (born 1792, died 5 March 1835) daughter of Abraham Adams. Married (2) March 28, 1836 Susan Guss (born 20 July 1816, died 7 April 1898); buried Oakridge cemetery, West Liberty, Iowa.
