E5 Edward Dixon Junkin, born: March 12, 1865 in Rockbridge County, Virginia, died August 18, 1939 in Austin, Texas; married December 25, 1899 Ruth Martindale Hastings, born November 2, 1872 in Mount Morris, New York, died July 29, 1965 in Austin, Texas.

Edward Dixon Junkin was educated at Hampden-Sidney College in Hampden-Sydney, Virginia (about 60 miles west of Richmond, Virginia). He was employed in Austin, Texas by R. G. Dun & County and later he was the office manager for the T. H. Williams County Dry Goods Store. He was active in the University Presbyterian Church in Austin where he was both a deacon and an elder. He was a charter member of the Austin Rotary Club and a member of the Texas Society of Sons of the American Revolution.

On Christmas day 1899 he married Ruth Martindale Hastings in Little Rock, Arkansas. Ruth was born on November 2, 1872 in Mount Morris, New York. She attended the University of Texas Library School in Austin, Texas. She taught elementary school in Little Rock, Arkansas. While in Little Rock she was the organist for the Little Rock Presbyterian Church. Later she started the University of Texas Architecture School Library in Austin. She was also very active in the University Presbyterian Church in Austin where she was the first president of the Women of the Church, University Presbyterian Church.
