Former Ithaca Mayor Is Dead
ITHACA--Roy Horine, 70, of Ithaca, a former mayor here, died at 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Wayne hospital in Greenville after suffering a heart attack at 1 p.m. He had been ill about three weeks.

Mr. Horine, a Darke County native and resided in Ithaca most of his life and was a retired employee of Frigidaire Corporation at Dayton. He was a member of the Ithaca E.U.B. church, Oddfellows lodge, K of P, the Fraternal Order of Eagles at Eaton and the Ithaca-Twin Grande.

Survivors include his wife, Myrtie; one daughter, Mrs. Geraldine Wright, Ithaca; one brother, Alva, Eaton; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Ithaca E.U.B. church with the Rev. Raymond Merz officiating. Burial will be in Ithaca cemetery. Friends may call at the Kreitzer funeral home in Arcanum from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday morning, and at the church frim 1 p.m. until time of services.

Obituary of Myrtie E. Horine

ITHACA, Ohio -- Former Ithaca resident Myrtie E. Horine, 102, of Dunedin, Fla., died Friday, September 1, 2000.

She retired from Moraine Products in Dayton in 1973 and moved to Florida at that time. She was a former member of the Ithaca United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Geraldine "Jerri" Abshear of Dunedin, Fla.; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, former Ithaca mayor Leroy Horine, on April 19, 1964; two sons, Homer and Joseph Horine; and two brothers, Guy and Pride Chellis.

Service will be at 10:00 a.m. (Ohio time) Tuesday at Kreitzer Funeral Home, 204 N. Main St., Arcanum. The Rev. Greg Hyre has been asked to officiate. Burial will be at Ithaca Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. (Ohio time) Monday at the funeral home.
