PFC. HOMER HORINE KILLED ON OKINAWA

Parents Live At Ithaca; In Service Since 1943

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Horine, of Ithaca, have been notified by the Navy Department that their son, Pfc. Homer L. Horine, U. S. Marine Corps, was killed in action on Okinawa on May 4.

Pfc. Horine entered military service in November, 1943, and was assigned to active duty in the Pacific war zone nine months ago. His wife Helen, and two small daughters, Patty Lou and Barbara Ann, reside at Eaton.

Prior to his induction he was employed at the Frigidaire Corporation in Dayton.

Mrs. Helen Horine, of 207 N. Maple street, has received word that her husband, Pfc. Homer L. Horine, U. S. M. C. R. was killed in action in the defense of Okinawa, of the Ryuhku Island group on May 4.

Pfc. Horine entered the Armed Forces on November 27, 1943 and was sent to San Diego, Calif. for his boot training. At the completion of his boot training Pfc. Horine was transferred to Nevada as a member of a Guard Unit of an Ammunition Dump.

He saw action in the Pacific Theater of Operations for nine months.

Besides his widow, he is survived by two small daughters, Patty Lou and Barbara Ann; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Horine of Ithaca, O., and one sister, Geraldine Wright.

He is a graduate of Monroe high school, class of 1940 and prior to his entry into the service was employed by the Dayton Frigidaire Co.
