Hugh attended North Beaver Township High School (Mt Jackson. PA.) and graduated in 1952. Hugh also attended Youngstown State University earning B.S. Degree in 1961, Duke University earning a Master's Degree in Math, 1964, and took Post Graduate Courses at the University of Michigan.

Hugh's educational successes are numerous. He coached high school golf, and taught math and science. In 1992 his team was first in state (South Carolina); in 1993 first in region and second in the state. He was named coach of the year in 1992 and 1993 and Coach of the State in 1992. In 1989 he was was chosen Teacher of the Year at Myrtle Beach. In 1993 Hugh was given Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching, and in the same year The High School Year Book was dedicated to him.

Barbara has been employed in secretarial office work most of their married life, and has been a number of years a Certified Public Accountant.

Hugh and Barbara attended Baptist Churches or Bible Churches wherever they lived. Hugh has served as deacon, treasurer, usher and greeter. He has sponsored Christian Athletes, Myrtle Beach High School. Barbara has taught Sunday School and sung in choir.

Barbara Louise Graham Bell, 67, wife of Hugh C. Bell, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, July 29, 2003.

Born in New Castle, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Blanche McQuiston Graham. Mrs. Bell was retired from the accounting field and was a member of Holly Ridge Baptist Church, where she formerly taught Sunday school and was a choir member.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, of the home, are two sons and daughters-in-law, Doug and Barbara Bell, of Phoenix, and Jeff and Lori Bell, of Fountain Inn; one brother, Norman Graham, of Ashland, Ohio; and four grandchildren, Douglas Bell Jr., Scott Bell, Elizabeth Bell and David Bell.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 31, 2003, at Cannon Funerals and Cremations in Simpsonville, with Dr. J.T. Cromer officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 this evening, July 30, 2003, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery of Enon Valley, Pa., Saturday, August 2, 2003.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorials to Holly Ridge Baptist Church, Building Fund, 260 Adams Mill Road, Simpsonville, SC 29681; or to Hospice of St. Francis Hospital, 414-A Pettigru St., Greenville, SC 29601.

The family is at the residence.
