Nancy attended North Beaver Township High School (Mt Jackson, PA) and graduated in 1948. She attended college at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and graduated in 1952. James Norman Cornell was born on January 29, 1928 in Blairsville, Pennsylvania, and died August 30, 1998, New Castle Pennsylvania.

Nancy received the Yellow Rose Award as outstanding employee at Neiman-Marcus in 1988. She was chosen by her peers in 1990 to receive the store's "Best Award" for service to customers, other employees and for the store as a dedicated, unique, caring employee. The award included a Stuben glass piece, a three day trip to the Dallas home office, plus other valuable gifts. Now retired after 101-2 years with Neiman-Marcus, Nancy is making and painting antique porcelain dolls, and designing clothing for their historical period. This follows an interest of some years earlier when she produced many ceramic pieces There was also a time when living in Ohio she was known to have made a statement that the wedding dresses she was creating were bringing in "about five cents an hour" for her time. She is a collector of hummels and porcelain birds, and has an interest in needlework and quilting. She likes to remember times with family and vacations on Cape Cod, on a Wyoming Dude Ranch, and prospecting in various states for rubies, emeralds, sapphires, even diamonds.

James was the son of Leslie Hall and Jennie "June" Henderson Cornell. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and a 1953 graduate of what is now Indiana University of Pennsylvania, with a BS in math. He was a project engineer for Cornell Mineral and a plant engineer for DOMCO-AZ Rock. Houston, Texas.

Norman's experiences in the engineering field led him to foreign countries directing the construction of large mineral plants. He was once featured in a cover page of the "Plant Engineering" magazine - a five page article. He has written poetry and short stories and has been published. In the Presbyterian church he served as an elder.
