Ferdinand Bray was born in Pawtucket Providence Rhode Island on May 11,1896, to Ferdinand Bray Sr. and Mary Cottrell, He attended Pawtucket schools and was graduated from the Philadelphia Textile School.

He was a Navy veteran of World War I and was in the Navy Supply Corps in World War II, retiring as a lieutenant commander. He was also affiliated with the US Naval Institute and the American arbitration Association. He died Jan. 21,1977 in Providence RI. He was an engineer for woolen mills – Shuler and Benninghoffen Woolen Mill in Hamilton Ohio and for a mill in Connecticut (1930). He was a scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts at the Lindenwald Methodist Church where Harry L. Junkin was in his scout troop Mr. Bray was a retired mill executive who had worked for 53 years in mills in Ohio, New England, New York and North Carolina.

After he retired in 1953, he became a member of the International Executive Corps. Serving the textile industry as a volunteer adviser in Taiwan,India, Costa Rica and Turkey. He was a member of SCORE, the retired executives organization, and was president in 1975. He was also a member of the American Association of Retired Persons and Men of retirement age, both of Pawtucket.

He married Sara Kathryn Junkin April 19, 1921 in Hamilton Ohio. Married (2) Charlotte Bellow after 1958. She was the daughter of Dexter W Bellow and Abbie P. Reed.

Providence RI: Ferdinand Bray Jr. 80, of 84 University Ave died unexpectedly Friday at Quaker Hill Farm, Little Compton. He was the husband of Charlotte R. ( Bellows) Bray and a summer resident of Little Compton.

Mr. Bray was a retired mill executive. He worked for 53 years in mills in Ohio, New England, New York and North Carolina.

After he retired in 1953, he became a member of the International Executive Corps. Serving the textile industry as a volunteer adviser in Taiwan, India, Costa Rica and Turkey. He was a member of SCORE, the retired executives organization, and was president in 1975. He was also a member of the American Association of Retired Persons and Men of retirement age, both of Pawtucket.

Mr. Bray’s first wife was the late Sara K ( Junkin ) who died in 1958.

Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Robert B. Winter of Westfield NJ; a brother, Dr. Russell S Bray of Bristo; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Swan Point Chapel, Blacksone Boulevard Providence Cremation will follow at Swan Point Cemetery.
