While working at David Taylor Model Basin in Carder Rock, Maryland on a work study program he met a secretary named Barbara Joan Smith, the third child of ten born to John Milton Smith Jr. and Helen Marie Sheehan. George continues in 2004 to work at the same facility after more than thirty years. The facility is now Northrop Grumman's Oceanic and Naval Systems Division where George is currently their Chief Scientist.
