D4 Frank John (Francis Adam) Preidis, was born September 27, 1917 in Columbus, Ohio, died April 22, 2008 in Columbus, Ohio. He graduated from Central High School June 12, 1935. He was employed by the Federal Glass Company and The Carrol & McKinnon Chain Company prior to being inducted into the army April 24, 1942.

He served overseas for 3 years and was discharged August 23, 1945 with the rank of Corporal. He and his brother Paul who was also serving in the army, accidentally met in Paris (photo on right). Neither knew the other was there. Frank served in Algeria-French Morocco, Sicily, Northern France, Ardennes, Naples-Loggia, Normandy, Rhineland and Central Europe.

He received the Good Conduct Medal, Croix de Guerre with Palm, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 8 Bronze Service Stars and 1 Bronze Service Arrowhead.

Frank married Mabel Eileen McMarrow October 5, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois. He was employed by the Whitehead Radio Company and retired in 1982.

PREIDIS Frank J. Preidis, 90, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at Forest Hills Nursing Home. Frank was an Army veteran of WWII. He retired from Whitehead Radio Company where he was a Purchasing Agent. He is survived by sons, Robert (Mary) and Frank Preidis, Jr.; daughters, Nancy Dill and Frances Preidis; grandchildren, Beth, Gary and Adam Preidis, and Michael Dill; great-grandchildren, Zerick and Madison Dill; sister-in-law, Hazel Preidis; former wife, Mabel Preidis; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by sisters Polly, Bea, Anne and Betty, brothers Chuck, Paul and Johnny.

Family will receive friends Friday from 5-8 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road, where a funeral service will be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2008. Entombment to follow at Green Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, c/o Tinia Johnson, 2841 E. Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, OH 43231.
