I3 Robert Nolan Wagaman, born December 30, 1905, son of Lewis and Sylvia Wagamon, was born on his parents' farm in Darke County, Ohio, and Graduated from Gettysburg High School. Robert started work at Industrial Savings Bank in Flint, Michigan, in 1927. He later changed to Merchants Bank and Trust Company, from which he retired in 1968 as Assistant Vice-President after thirty-five years of service.

On June 1, 1929, Robert married Esther Eleanor Willougby, who was born in Owasso, Michigan. Eleanor graduated from Owasso High School and completed secretarial courses at Baker's Business University in 1925. Eleanor worked at Industrial Savings Bank (where she met Robert) and Citizens' Commercial Bank.

In 1936, Robert and Eleanor bought their home at 1615 Pontiac Street in Flint, Michigan, where they lived for thirty-eight years.
