    Roger Miller Passes Away.

Sunday evening, December 15, death claimed Roger Andrew Miller after an illness of but ten days. The end came suddenly and unexpectedly, as during the last two days he had seemed to be improving. Although his illness was serious from the first, he was a young man of splendid physic and clean habits, so that his friends hoped for his recovery. All that love and care and medical skill could do, was useless, for God had called Roger.

The funeral services were held at the home Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock. Rev. Carruth, assisted by Rev Crain, expressed in well chosen words, the sympathy which the entire town feels for the sorrowing family. Beautiful floral offerings attested to the esteem in which deceased was held.

Roger was a man of exceptional moral worth; energetic and industrious, kindly and jovial of disposition and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. He was twenty-two years old and came to Louisiana from Iowa with his parents about ten years ago, His native state was Oregon. The deceased leaves a father and mother, one brother, John, and six sisters, Mesdames Leona Kennedy and Pearl Eaton, and Misses Cora, Alice, Mabel, and Ethel, who are all residents of Welsh except Mrs. Eaton who lives in Jennings. Mrs. Eaton and her deceased brother (see photograph on right) formerly owned and managed the Welsh Furniture Store. During the last year he had been helping his father farm rice.

The Journal extends to the bereaved family the most sincere sympathy.
