(1887-1949)
H3 Arthur Boyer Miller, born 8 March, 1887, Darke County, Ohio, died 9 December, 1949 buried Washington Park East Cemetery, Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana; married 16 February, 1910, in Darke County, Ohio, by Rev. Dek, Lulu M. Dunham, born 17 February, 1887, died 9 November, 1970. She was the daughter of Frank Dunham and Nellie Wells.

Arthur worked for the New York Central Railroad. He was a conductor on a freight line. It was a tough job back then, especially in the winter. He walked to work 4 or 5 miles to the railroad yards, then had to hunt for his caboose. This was usually at night. Walking on top of the fast moving box cars was very hazardous, especially in snowy weather. He traveled from Indianapolis, Ind., to Bellefountaine, Ohio. He stayed with a family paying room and board while on layovers between runs (return trips home).

Later he was promoted to the passenger lines which traveled from Indianapolis to Cleveland. He was a conductor which put him in charge, quite a responsibility.

He was elected Secretary of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. His income was about $2,000 per year. That made his family pretty wealthy during the depression days.
