She was the daughter of Peter and Isabelle McQuie who came from their native Scotland In 1857. During the seven weeks' voyage Peter II was born. The family settled in Knox County,Ill., where Mary was born. George and Mary Junkin moved to a farm west of Dexter in 1887, where all their children were born. A director of the Dexter Savings bank, George Junkin was a member of the Guthrie County School Board for 51 years.
