H5 Johann Henrich Horine, born ca. June 13, 1786, died July 13, 1862 in Boonsboro, Maryland. He married: 1. 10/4/1806 Barbara Schrader (6/21/1784-4/17/1825), at St. John's Evangelical in Hagerstown, Maryland; and 2. 9/29/1836 Nancy Smith, (12/23/1799-11/14/1858), both are buried with him. Eight children.

  • "WMG" date of Adam's son, John H. (Johan Heinrich) Horine, birth differ with church records which gives his birth (9 Apr 1775) and baptism (11 Jun 1775). John was the agent of the Hughes family, who owned vast tracts of land near Black Rock on the western slopes of South Mountain. The Hughes family built the MT, Aetna and other iron furnaces.

  • Shortly after the death of John C. Hughes he acquired from the estate, for debts due him, 4882 1/2 acres at MT. Aetna. On August 26, 1835, he bought some or all of his grandfather's original tract, Schin Talir Gutt from John and Elizabeth Staley and Joseph and Rebecca Staley for $7600.00. (WMG Vol 2, #1, pg3)

  • John later bought two mills near Harmony, which were part of his grandfather's, Tobias I, "Schin Talir Gutt". His son John operated the one along Little Catoctin Creek. at present called Fisher's Hollow Rd., and the other southeast of Harmony on Hollow Rd.

    I3 Samuel Horine, born ca. January 13, 1808; died December 04, 1863 in Boonsboro, Maryland., Never married.

    I4 Henry Horine, born ca. November 19, 1810; died January 30, 1864.

    I5 George Horine, died April 09, 1885 in Boonsboro, Maryland., No marriage record. Left property. rights for life to Susan Whipple. On her death his assets went to nephews, J.C, C.L., W.P. Lane & W. Welck equally.

    I6 Juliana Amelia Horine, born January 24, 1818.

    I7 Susan Horine, died 1910.

    I8 Catharine Horine, born April 14, 1820. She married Josiah D. Smith, who practiced medicine in Boonsboro.
