OLD SETTLER PASSES AWAY AT CASTINE

Jacob Horine Dies at His Home Near Castine Thursday Evening--Was a Prominent Man of That Community--Funeral Sunday.

Jacob Horine, 86, one of the pioneers of Butler Township, died at his home near Castine Thursday Evening [January 14, 1926] after a short illness. The aged man was one of the early settlers of Butler Township and spent all of his four score years in the vicinity where he passed away.

The deceased is survived by his aged wife, who has now passed her 86th year, and by three sons and a daughter. The sons are Noah, George and Aaron, all of Butler township, and the daughter is Mrs. Luther Snyder of Castine. Funeral Services will be held at the late home Sunday at noon, and the remains will then be taken to the church at Castine, where the service will be held. The remains will be laid to rest in the Greenville Mausoleum.

WIFE IS GIVEN ESTATE OF JACOB HORINE

Last Will and Codicil of the Late Jacob Horine of Butler Township, Gives Entire Estate to Aged Wife to be Her's During Her Life--Son Noah is Named as Executor.

The will and codicil of Jacob Horine disposes of the farm of 157 acres in Butler Township, his personal property, money, credits, etc.., to his beloved wife Elizabeth, to have and to hold during her life.

This is the farm in which the testator and his wife had lived for the most of their lives.

The son, Noah Horine, is named to be executor of his father's will, which was drawn on February 16, 1906, and was witnessed by F. M. Emrick and Sarah Brown.

On February 24, 1913, a codicil was attached to the will, naming the heirs that are to share in the property at the death of the wife. They are the sons, Noah, George and Aaron, and the daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Snyder, wife of Luther Snyder.

The codicil provides that the property is to be sold within 18 months after the death of the wife, and the proceeds distributed in equal shares to the four children named above, or to their heirs. The executor is to erect a monument to cost not less than $1000 at the last resting place of the testator of his wife.

The witnesses to the codicil were O. R. Krickenberger and Patience Beutler.

Mrs. Jacob Horine Dies at Home
South of Arcanum Thursday at
Noon. Burial at Otterbein.

Mrs. Jacob Horine, 88, a pioneer lady of Butler township, died at her home, five miles south of Arcanum Thursday at noon, her death being due to the complications that beset the aged.

Her passing is mourned by three sons and a daughter. Funeral at the Late home Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Pantle officiating. Burial in the Otterbein cemetery.
