G7 Jacob Martin Miller, born June 19, 1862, died October 2, 1908. married October 4, 1884 Clara Jane Trick, daughter of John Christian Trick and Elizabeth Keplinger. She was born August 12, 1864, Lexington, Richland County, Ohio; died February 12, 1939, Greenville, Darke County, Ohio; buried in Greenville Union Cemetery. Nine children.

Clara married William Gard after Jacob's death.

Obituary

Jacob Martin Miller, son of Emanuel and Nancy Miller, was born in Van Buren township, Darke county, June 19, 1862, and died at his home in Greenville, October 2, 1908, at the age of forty-six years, eight months and thriteen days.

He was reared on the farm and lived there until his marriage to Clara J. Trick, October 4, 1884, and for fourteen years they lived on Mr. Miller's family farm, after which they moved to Greenville, where they have since lived.

He was an esteemed member of the Lodge of Knights of Pythias, first in the Gettysburg Lodge and later moving his membership to the Greenville Lodge.

Several weeks before his death he sent for the pastor of ther Christian Church and decided to make a confession of his Savior, and place his membership in the church, and on the 16th day of September, he was received into the Greenville Christian Church, and the following day received the ordinance of baptism.

He was a great sufferer for many months before his death, and he bore it all with the greatest fortitude and patience, those nearest him never heard a word of complaint from him although he suffered death over and over.

He made his own arrangements for the funeral and when the end came went calmly to sleep with Jesus. He leaves a wife, nine children, three brothers and sisters, besides many other relatives and a host of friends to mourn his departure, but we feel that he is not dead, but sleeping. Oh, what a blessed comfort. He always had a smile for those around him. He was buried on his twentieth-fourth wedding day. It was a very sad anniversary, but God's will be done, and... The Miller home on Green street is in sadness and sorrow at the loss of a beloved husband and father. Jacob Miller, who after suffering worse than death, passed away yesterday afternoon at a little after 3 o'clock. He has been the victim of the terrible disease of cancer and has patiently born his suffering for the past three months.

Mr. Miller was a resident of Van Buren township before he moved to this city in 1900, and shortly after moving here was appointed Deputy Sheriff under Sheriff Frank Smith. While acting as Deputy Sheriff he well filled the office and at the expiration of his term in 1905, was appointed to the office of patrolman in Greenville, and while on the police force made many friends throughout the city.

He leaves besides his devoted wife a family of nine children, two of them are married.They are: Mrs. Bayton Ullery, of near Greenville; Mrs. Harry Baker, of Arcanum; Earl, Hazel, Neva, Glen, Ward, Louise, and Naomi, who reside at home. Three brothers and three sisters also survive him.

The funeral services have been arranged for Sunday afternoon and will be in charge of K. of P. Lodge, of which Mr. Miller has been an active member and a beloved brother. The Lodge will attend in a body, and no more beautiful ceremonies are conducted at the cemetery than those of this organization.

A short service will be held at the Lodge at 1:30, and from there the body will be taken to the Christian Church and at 9 o'clock Rev... (rest of document missing)
