The following article was reprinted by "The Citizen" pg. 3 on July 25, 1996 from a newspaper article in 1896:

"Kicked to Death by Horse"
"News was received at Myersville last week that Mr. Samuel T. Horine, a native of that vicinity, and a highly esteemed citizen of Bayard, Iowa, had been almost instantly killed on the 7th inst. by the kick of a horse at his home. Mr. Horine was nearly 75 years of age. He was a brother of the late John and Tobias Horine, of this valley."
