OBITUARY--HORINE

Mary Emma Horine, daughter of John and Elizabeth Hemp, was born near Germantown, Ohio. September 8, 1848 and died June 24, 1920, aged 71 years, 9 months and 15 days. She came to Darke County with her parents in the spring of 1854, and passed the remainder of her life in this county. On February 21, 1867, she was married to Adam Horine. To this union three children were born, Irwin Horine, of Modoc, Ind., Mrs. Manzella Finley, of Dayton, Ohio, and Mrs. Elva Rosser of Bradford, O. She leaves a husband one son, two daughters, one brother and two sisters.

She was converted to Christ and baptized with the Holy Spirit in 1863, in the Otterbein United Brethren church under the preaching of Rev. Wm. Hanby of sainted memory. Feeling that she had drifted away from her Christian experience somewhat, she reconsecrated herself to God in 1868, and lived a faithful Christian until her death. She prayed daily for the salvation of the members of her family, and continued to hold them before the throne of grace until the last hours of her life. On her removal to Greenville she united with the United Brethren church of that city.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, June 26th, in the Otterbein United Brethren church by Rev. S. E. Rasey.
