Andrew L. Lavy, 81

CAMDEN -- Andrew Loren Lavy, 81, of 1356 W. County Road 250 North, Camden, died at 3:33 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at his residence.

Born Feb. 6, 1929, in Darke County, Ohio, he was the son of the late Solomon and Margaret Mote Lavy. He attended the former Gettysburg High School in Darke County. On Feb. 6, 1949, he married Mary Ellen Morris in Carroll County, and she survives.

Mr. Lavy worked as a carpenter for Raymond Wagoner Construction in Camden for 20 years, then was self-employed doing carpentry for 20 years. He and his wife owned/operated Lavy Orchard for 40 years, and he also farmed in Carroll County. He was a member of Living Hope Fellowship in Lafayette. He enjoyed caring for and growing his orchard, the hired help who worked for him and his wife, and the many customers he dealt with over the years. Surviving with his wife are three sons, Keith Lavy (wife: Claudia) of Troy, Ohio, Wayne Lavy (wife: Sheryl) of Greenville, Ohio, and Kenneth Lavy (wife: Tammi) of Camden; a sister, Elizabeth Garber of Lobelville, Tenn., and twin sisters, Ruth Flora of Arcanum, Ohio, and Rhoda Millyard of Brookville, Ohio.

Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, 2 stepgrandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 3 stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters, an infant brother, and 3 adult brothers. Andrew accepted the Lord and was baptized as a young man, looking forward to a better world. God in his mercy has provided a way we might all meet again some glorious day. Friends may call 3-8 p.m. Saturday at Abbott Funeral Home, Delphi. Services 2 p.m. Sunday at Camden First Baptist Church, David Perry and Tim Yoder officiating.
