E6 John Baldridge McClanahan, born March 30, 1887, died January 20, 1978; married September 21, 1910 Ethel Cloe Robe, born June 11, 1889, died March 6, 1973 at West Union, Ohio (view obituary). No children.

Ethel Cloe Robe was the only child of Theodore Miller Robe, born July 27, 1860 in Adams County Ohio, died September 6, 1923 in West Union Ohio, and Lida Graham Weeks, born September 1864 in Ohio. Theodore's parents were David Robe, born 1816 in Ohio, and Martha J. Miller born June 16, 1835 in Pennsylvania, died September 13, 1913 in Liberty Township, Adams County, Ohio.

OBITUARY

John B. McClanahan, son of Samuel A. and Sara Margaret Zercher McClanahan, was born March 30, 1887.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of West Union, where he taught the men's Sunday School class for many years. As long as his health permitted, he attended church services regularly.

In his early years of adult life, John taught school in Adams County and then became engaged in farming until his retirement.

On September 21, 1910, he was united in marriage to Ethel Robe, and they lived a very happy life until her death on March 6, 1973.

He departed this life January 20, 1978 at the age of 90 years, nine months and 20 days.

John was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, four brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by five nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and nephews.

Services were conducted January 23 at the Ellis Funeral Home in West Union. James Robb Officiated. Burial was in the Kirker Cemetery.

Final Rites for Ethel McClanahan

Mrs. Ethel McClanahan, 83, of West Union Route 3, died Tuesday at Adams County Hospital.

She was a member of West Union Presbyterian Church. Surviving is her husband, J. B. McClanahan.

Services are to be held at 2 p. m. Saturday at Ellis Funeral Home, with Rev. Melvin Pederson and Rev. Lloyd DeLong, officiating. Burial is to be in Kirker Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday.
