G1 Katharine Pearl (Kate) Newman, born November 16, 1898 in New Waverly Cass County, Indiana, died of carcinoma of the cervix on September 5, 1936 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga Co Ohio; married September 1, 1923 George Noel Unger in Logansport Cass County Indiana.

George was born February 6, 1895 in Peru, Miami County, Indiana. In 1930 he was a Salesman for an Aluminum Company in Cleveland Cuyahoga County Ohio. He was buried in 1972 in Greenwood, Phoenix, Arizona. He died on December 20, 1972 in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was the son of John Frank Unger and Estella Maud Tucker. Veteran of the World War I.

Kate Unger Rites Conducted At Peru

PERU, Ind., Sept. 8--Funeral rites for Mrs, Kate Newman Unger, 37, wife of Noel Unger, formerly of Peru, who died at her home in Cleveland Saturday after being in poor health and criticallly ill in the past two months, was conducted Monday at 10 o'clock from the Fetter-Allen mortuary. Rev. R. E. Tunmer officiated. Interment was made in Mt. Hope cemetery.

Surviving besides the husband are a daughter, Janice; the father, Samuel Newman, Peru; two brothers, Byron Newman, of Arizona and Neal Newman of Cleveland and two sisters, Mrs. Mike Birner, Peru and Mrs. Pauline Koontz, of Logansport.
