Samuel J. Ross, born December 14, 1861 in Watertown, Wisconsin, son of Nenian Ross and Mary Denny (both born in Ireland), died September 3, 1945 in Cass Township, Muskingum County, Ohio Death Certificate Button; married (1) September 14, 1887 Clara Belle Fisher, born 1862/3 in Uhrichville, Ohio, died April 27, 1888. One child.

Samuel J. Ross married (2) December 14, 1893 Mary Elizabeth Murphy, born May 5, 1866, died February 27, 1937 Death Certificate Button. Mary Elizabeth Murphy's parents were James Murphy and Lucy Vickers. Samuel and Mary Elizabeth are both buried in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Coshocton, Ohio. Two children.

Samuel J. Ross, 83, Dies Late Monday in Home at Adams Mills.

Samuel J. Ross, 83, lifelong farmer of the Adams Mills vicinity died at 11:15 p.m. Monday at his home in Adams Mills after an illness of 17 months.

He was born at Watertown, Wis., Dec. 14, 1861, a son of Nenian and Mary Denny Ross. Mr. Ross was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Adams Mills. He was married three times. His first wife, the former Belle Fisher died in 1888, and his second wife, the former Mary Elizabeth Murphy died in 1937. In 1938 he was married to Laura Slaughter, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Robert W. Ross of Adams Mills, a sister, Jennie D. Ross of Cleveland, and four grandchildren. Preceding him in death were a son, two daughters, a brother and a sister.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the home of the son Robert W. Ross, Adams Mills. Rev. D. Ira Lambert will officiate and burial will be in Oak Ridge cemetery. Friends will be received at the home of the son, Robert W. Ross, until time for service.
