D4 Eleanor Junkin, born March 6, 1825. First wife of Confederate General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson, married August 4, 1853. Elinor (Ellie) died in childbirth on October 22, 1854. Their child, a son, was stillborn. All three are buried in Stonewall Jackson Cemetery, Lexington, Virginia. The Junkins had been surprised that their "beloved Ellie" had chosen such a grave, somber mate, but after Ellie's death, he continued to make his home with Dr. George Junkin for three years until his remarriage to Mary Anna Morrison in 1856.
