Ralph served in the U.S. Army for several years. They had two daughters: Linda Horine Aukerman, a school cook in Eaton schools, (2 children and four grandchildren) and Dawn Horine Call, a beautician in Oxford, Ohio. Ralph and Ruth loved to travel and began collecting any kind of squirrel (ceramic, crystal, wood, etc.). It must have caught on with Linda who has a huge pig collection. Both are represented on the quilt. Linda has worked with many youth groups and is a talented craft maker and cook. Ralph's yard on Hillcrest Drive in Eaton a haven for the squirrels but no real pigs for Linda who lives outside Eaton, home of the annual Pork Festival.
