Head stone of George Fisher (1752-1823) Head stone of Elizabeth Fisher (1756-1838)
Greenwood Cemetery, Green Township, Harrison County, Ohio
A1 George Fisher was born 1752. Died September 11, 1823. Married ca. 1780 Elizabeth _______ , born 1756 and died January 19, 1838. Both are buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Green Township, Harrison County, Ohio. George's will dated August 30, 1823 was probated October 18, 1823. Ten children.

Reliable records of the early history of the Fisher family are lacking. According to family tradition, young George Fisher was kidnapped and held for ransom. The kidnappers being closely pursued took him to the English Colonies and sold him in Baltimore, where he grew to manhood, married and raised a large family.

In the beginning of the 19th century 1801-1810 the Fisher Families moved Westward and settled in Harrison County, Ohio in the vicinity of Cadiz. This locality remained the family home during the nineteenth century, and some descendants are still living there. These families were early allied in marriage with other colonists, mainly Pennsylvania Dutch, Irish, Scotch. Moving with the Western trend of population, they have disseminated themselves over the country until their descendants are found in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas and other states as far as the Pacific Coast.
